What is Apple’s Fingerprint Sensor in iPhone 5S All About?

This news has been in the air for quite some time and it was believed that the “S” added with 5 in “iPhone 5s” would stand for safety and security. A lot of people assumed that Apple was after the company’s minute “Smart Sensor,” this feature made iPhone debut as the new “Touch ID.”

What is Touch ID?

Let us portray the real picture of Touch ID, its 170 microns thin, senses 550 ppi, and has the ability to scan one’s sub-epidermal skin layers with 360-degree readability. The mechanism is like that the apparatus within the iPhone 5s consists of a tactile switch, Touch ID sensor, a stainless-steel detection ring and a laser-cut sapphire crystal, which is unscratchable. Touch ID is capable of handling multiple fingerprints i.e. up to five individual prints so you can restrict only a certain number of people to use your phone.
